The story of Kevin and Abby began in 2021 when they first met online through a dating app. At the time, Kevin was deep in fire academy and EMT school, juggling an intense and demanding schedule. Abby was working full time as a nanny, busy as always. Although there was an initial connection, life pulled them in different directions, and they lost touch.

Fast forward to 2024 — fate stepped in, and they reconnected. This time, Kevin asked Abby out on a proper first date at a Thai restaurant after learning Thai food was her favorite — even though he had never tried it before. That thoughtful gesture sparked a new chapter. Their next few dates included shopping around The Domain and spending time at Abby’s grandparents’ house on the lake, where Kevin nervously met some of her family for the first time. On March 3rd, 2024, they officially became a couple and began their journey together.

It wasn’t long before life threw them some major curveballs. Abby had recently moved into a brand-new studio apartment, only to discover mold in the bathroom. Maintenance attempted repairs, but the problem was far worse — the mold had spread, ruining nearly all of her belongings. On top of that, Abby became ill and required surgery, ultimately losing her job in the process. She was forced to discard most of her things and move into another apartment in the same complex, which then flooded. Though the damage was less severe, it was the last straw, and she moved yet again to a different complex. At the same time, Kevin was also moving into a new apartment. Both of them were under immense stress — constantly on the go, emotionally and financially drained.

Things began to turn around. The couple took a memorable trip to Europe with Abby’s family, and during that trip, Kevin made a life-changing decision. He had secretly bought a ring and asked Abby’s dad for his blessing. No one else on the trip knew what was coming. Midway through the trip, during a pasta-making class in Rome, Italy, Kevin got down on one knee and proposed. Abby said yes.

Neither Kevin nor Abby wanted a long engagement. They dove into wedding planning right away, facing another wave of stress — but also excitement. And let’s be honest: while they worked as a team, Abby handled most of the planning like a pro.
